About us

An independent guide for Canadian homeowners

We started because choosing solar or a heat pump should not require a sales pitch, a stranger at your door or a guess about what applies to your home.

Who we are

Independent, and clear about it

We are not a utility, not a government agency and not an equipment manufacturer. We are an independent company that helps Canadian homeowners, from the Maritimes to Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, find out whether solar, a heat pump or both make sense for their home, and then connects them with a licensed local installer.

Our advisors answer your questions, explain what the installer will look at and make sure you get a clear, written recommendation. The installation itself, and your contract, are with the installer.

Our installers

How we choose the installers we work with

Every installation arranged through us is carried out by a licensed, insured installer based in the homeowner's region. We look for four things before we work with anyone.

Licensed and insured in their province

Electrical work is done by licensed electricians, and the installer carries the insurance you would expect from a professional contractor.

Local, with winter experience

Our installers live and work in the regions they serve. They know the local utility's connection process, local roofs and local weather.

A track record with homeowners

We read the reviews, talk to past customers and look at how the installer handles questions after the installation, not just before the sale.

Willing to say no

If a roof is too shaded, a home is better served by a heat pump first, or the numbers do not work, we expect our installers to say so.

What we are not

  • We are not affiliated with any utility or with the Government of Canada.
  • We do not promise savings figures or incentive amounts. Those depend on your home and the programs in place when you install.
  • We do not sell your information. Your request goes to the installer assigned to it and nowhere else.
  • We do not do door-to-door sales or high-pressure tactics, and we do not work with installers who do.

From the Maritimes to British Columbia

A century home in Nova Scotia, a split-level in Ontario, a bungalow in Alberta and a farmhouse in British Columbia do not need the same thing. Roof pitch, shade from mature trees, an oil tank in the basement, an electrical panel from the 1970s: these details decide what makes sense.

That is why every assessment is done by a licensed installer who works in your area, and why we never recommend a system before someone has looked at your actual home and your electricity usage.

They made the entire process easy and stress-free. The installation itself was smooth and efficient, and they explained everything clearly along the way. … The panels look great with clean lines, hidden wiring, and are functioning perfectly.

They took the time to analyze our energy setup and explain what made sense for us without trying to upsell gear we didn't need. The installation itself was incredibly smooth, and the crew was polite, on time, and highly professional.

When selecting a company to install a solar panel system, we invited site visits, discussion and quotes from five companies. Only two of these companies took the time and effort to come and see the location, including the unique construction of our timber frame roof.

After a few years of looking into solar power for my home I finally decided to get it done. … They did the work without complaint and answered all my questions completely.

Very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. They took the time to explain the whole process to my wife and I and that enabled us to make an informed decision
